How can SASH support you?

We understand that people with additional needs may have questions in relation to their sexual health, and that their families and carers could benefit from the support of one of SASH's trained sexual health staff to approach these topics and conversations.

What support does SASH offer?

We provide specialist sexual health support to parents and carers of people who are living with learning disabilities and/or Autism. This support is tailored to the needs of the person you support, and covers a range of topics within sexual health and wellbeing. 

This includes:

• Understanding the body, including how bodies change and react to arousal, pleasure, as well as hygiene, testicular and breast care.
• Navigating relationships, including the different types of relationships and what makes a healthy relationship.
• Public and private behaviours, including what is appropriate when in public and private places, appropriate touching, harm reduction, and consent.
• Online safety, including keeping safe on social media, private information and media, and conduct.

Does SASH provide support for the actual parents and carers?

We understand that navigating conversations around sexual behaviour with those you support and care for can be difficult. We offer support to parents, carers and guardians on how to have these talks and address challenging sexual behaviour, as well as a safe space to have conversations with the person you support with the assistance of our trained and experienced staff. This support includes all of our services. 

Does SASH provide support for professionals? 

If you are a Professional who supports someone with additional needs due to learning disabilities or autism, we can provide bespoke trainings and workshops around sexual health for those with additional needs.
